Allen has been composing music for film, television and theatre for more than a decade.  Originally from Columbia, South Carolina, Allen attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he studied music, theatre and math.  After moving to L.A. in the mid-90s, he began playing keyboards for various comedy groups, including ComedySportz, Theatresports, Impro Theatre, Second City, I.O. West and occasionally, The Groundlings.

Allen has worked with writer/director Rob Schrab (Monster House) on The Sarah Silverman Program for Comedy Central and for the DVD for New Line's Tenacious D In: The Pick Of Destiny, starring Jack Black.  Allen scored VH-1’s video sketch series Acceptable TV, written and directed by Dan Harmon (Community), and also wrote songs and a dance number for An American Carol, written and directed by David Zucker (Airplane!, Police Squad!).
 
Allen’s had music on ABC, VH-1, Comedy Central, FX, PAX-TV, Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, www.Channel101.com, The Wayne Brady Show and was the improv keyboardist for the Wayne Brady & Friends national tour for three years.  Currently, Allen lives in Los Angeles with his beautiful wife, Tracy Burns.
